Who we work with

We advise private collections, family offices, and fellow advisors on acquiring and deaccessioning post-war and contemporary artworks in the secondary market.

Our focus is on discreet, research-driven private sales. Our bias is toward fewer, high-conviction transactions.

Services

Acquisitions & Private Sales

Sourcing off-market and on-market opportunities aligned with a clear brief. Pricing and negotiating with galleries, dealers, auction houses, and private sellers. Setting bidding strategy for auction and private sales. Coordinating condition checks, due diligence, documentation, shipping, and insurance through to completion.

Deaccessioning & Liquidity

Identifying the best venue: private sale vs. auction. Running targeted, highly confidential sales processes. Structuring deals to optimise net proceeds.

Collection Strategy & Portfolio View

Developing an acquisition roadmap aligned with taste, risk and time horizon. Reviewing existing holdings for quality, relevance and market resilience. Providing market intelligence and comparables around key works or artists.

Logistics, Tax & Structuring

Coordinating storage, shipping and insurance. Liaising with legal, tax, and fiduciary advisors around ownership structures.

We are not tax or legal advisors and work alongside your professional advisors where required.

Approach

AHR Partners is an independent advisory, not a gallery or dealer. We are compensated by our clients, not by hidden margins in inventory, and we only act when we believe a transaction improves the overall quality and resilience of a collection.

We operate with a low-volume, high-conviction approach: a small number of well-researched acquisitions and sales each year, rather than constant trading. Our work is confidential by default and we are comfortable sitting alongside existing advisors, galleries, and family offices.

What we don't do

No mass mailing lists or public inventory. No pressure to transact for the sake of activity. No proprietary inventory conflict unless clearly disclosed.

Experience

AHR Partners is led by Adam Rutledge. He began his career at Phillips Auction and Pace Gallery, then held senior private-sales and partnerships roles at an online art-market platform. He advises private collectors and family offices on building post-war and contemporary collections, and has negotiated sales with galleries, dealers, auction houses, and private sellers across the US, Asia, and Continental Europe. This blend of experience underpins clear and steady advice for clients beginning or refining a collection.
